How to Check if an AI Answer Is True

Spot where AI is most likely to be wrong and verify those parts before you act on them.

Why this matters

AI can sound sure and still be wrong. If you send a made-up number or quote to your manager, it is your name on it.

Confident Does Not Mean Correct

AI writes smooth, sure-sounding text even when it is wrong. A made-up fact looks just like a true one, so a confident tone proves nothing.

In real life: A wrong fact and a right fact look the same in AI writing. The smooth, confident tone tells you nothing about whether it is true.

Check Names, Numbers, Dates, Quotes

AI invents these details most often. Check each one in an official source before you use it at work, at school, or in a decision.

In real life: Look for names, numbers, dates, and quotes. These are easy to invent and easy to check. If you cannot find a source, remove it or fix it before you share.

Your practice task

You asked an AI assistant for a market report. It replied confidently with figures, a court case, and a CEO quote. Decide how to check it before it goes to your manager.

How to do it

  1. Read the AI reply in the box above.
  2. For each question, think about what you would check before trusting it.
  3. Pick one answer per question.
  4. Press Run proof.

Practice it for free in the app. You get instant checks that show what you got right and what to fix. A lesson takes about two minutes and you can try as many times as you like.

Quick reference: AI Fact-Check Routine

You are responsible for what you publish, even when AI wrote the first draft.

1. Mark every name, number, date, quote.
2. Find each in a trusted source.
3. Remove or fix anything you cannot confirm.
